Why Local SEO Matters for Gurugram Businesses

Google has publicly documented that local ranking is based on three factors: relevance (how well your business profile matches what someone is searching for), distance (how far your business is from the location implied in the search), and prominence (how well-known your business is, based on information Google has from across the web — reviews, links, articles and directory listings). A website that ranks well in general search doesn't automatically rank well in Maps, because distance and prominence don't apply to regular organic results the same way.
Why NAP consistency specifically matters
NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone number. Google cross-checks this information across your Google Business Profile, your website and other places your business is listed online (directories, review sites, social profiles). When these don't match — an old phone number still live on one directory, a suite number missing from another — it creates genuine uncertainty for Google about whether listings actually refer to the same real business, which can hold back how much it trusts your profile.
